ODC – Online Dynamic Content
Together with our SQL Server, your website can deliver online content that is quickly and easily updated by you. With the correct password you are able to login and update certain pages yourself without involving the webmaster. This, over time, can amount to considerable savings when your website must be frequently updated and maintained with up-to-date information.
What types of pages can be delivered with ODC?
SQL-based databases can be built to your exact requirements. This might be a product database, online catalogue, or anything that requires frequent updates. s–web Design offers a comprehensive design-and-build service to satisfy your needs, however, we also offer a number of pre-developed systems available to you at a fraction of the cost.
Some pre-developed systems available NOW are:
- Discussion forums
- Latest news
- Banner advertising
- Staff directory
|
- File downloads
- Photo gallery
- Restaurant menu
- Real estate
|
- FAQs
- Calendar of events

Types of websites
Your website will probably fit into one or two of the following categories.
» Home Page
The simplest and quickest method of getting your business listed on the World Wide Web. Your home page is a single page outlining your business contact details and mission statement. This is much like an electronic business card. If you need to get your business on the internet, but you’re not quite ready for the real thing, then this is an excellent way to get started in the interim. » eBrochure
An on-line advertisement promoting your business 24 hours per day. Usually this will include a page outlining your mode of business, contact details, customer feedback form, description of your product and/or services, and a page of useful links. An eBrochure is generally static, requiring the occasional minor update over time, and is best used as a starting point for additional features. » Information Site
Here you’ll find loads of helpful information that is offered as a service to your potential customers. Information is organised by menu into categories and groups, allowing the user to ‘drill down’ through the hierarchy to a specific page. At its core, the information site will include all of the ‘eBrochure’ content as its top-level group of ‘Home’ pages. An online customer enquiry form allows users to request further information, such as pricing and availability on products and/or services.
» Online Dynamic Content [ODC]
A Dynamic Page allows you to make changes to online content yourself. This might be updates to address and contact details, new FAQs or news items, or even an on-line Calendar of Events showing important dates and bookings specific to your business. The advantage here is that these changes can be made without the intervention of the web designer, and at any desired time. Your information is protected by passwords, allowing only the users you specify to be able to make these changes. » Online Catalogue
A type of ODC, this style of site is customised to your unique requirements. You’ll have one or more pages listing your product lines. Users will be able to search, sort and filter to find products of interest. Clicking on individual products may display further information such as an illustration, product specs etc. Product pricing and/or stock availability may be updated dynamically from your own accounting software. Online order forms can be made available for users to complete and return to you via e-mail. (We currently do not support the purchasing of products online)
» Secure Sites
Ideal for clubs and associations, secure sites are an excellent way to distribute private and confidential information to association members, employees etc. All users are supplied with usernames and passwords, with varying levels of security. Entire sections of the website can be made available to only a small group of users, whilst other pages might be available to the general public.
